Who We’re Looking For:

CirrusMD is seeking a Lead Data Engineer to contribute to our mission of redefining the healthcare experience for patients and providers. You’ll be responsible for delivering best-in-class data solutions while driving more accurate data-informed decision making. You will have the opportunity to work with technology including Snowflake, Airflow, Meltano, DBT, PostgreSQL, Python, SQL, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes and more.

This position can sit remote anywhere in the U.S., with the flexibility to work from our Denver HQ as you’d like. What You’ll Accomplish:

  • Manage and maintain integrity of ETL/ELT and data ingestion processes
  • Use various methods to transform raw data into useful data systems
  • Aid in data warehouse design, development and architectures
  • Build and optimize data pipelines, architectures and data sets
  • Collaborate with platform engineers to build services and APIs for internal and external stakeholders
  • Support teammates and stakeholders through technical challenges with a high degree of competency and accountability
  • Maintain your reputation for reliably delivering well considered, well tested and performant code artifacts
  • Contribute to our evolving engineering and testing standards and best practices

What You Will Bring:

  • 7 or more years of professional experience working with pipelines, data modeling and data warehousing
  • Extensive Database knowledge, specifically with PostgreSQL, Snowflake, DBT, and Elasticsearch/OpenSearch
  • Production level experience with Airflow or similar data orchestration tool (e.g. Dagster)
  • Adept Python coding/scripting experience
  • Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases. (writing complex SQL queries, stored procedures, data modeling, performance tuning)
  • Significant experience with data warehouses like Snowflake and ETL tools like Meltano
  • Experience designing and managing complex relational database structures
  • Experience with relevant AWS services such as RDS, S3, DocumentDB, Lambda, SNS or SQS
  • Confidence pairing with other engineers of all levels
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to combine and integrate data from different sources with accuracy
  • Experience with both set-based and scalar data
  • Strong aptitude for learning new technologies related to Data Management and Data Science
  • As the Lead, this role will represent the Data Engineering team and the potential to manage other Data Engineers
  • B.S or M.S in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or equivalent work experience

What Will Make You Stand Out:

  • Familiarity with replication techniques and services
  • Production level experience working with Kubernetes, specifically Airflow on Kubernetes
  • Migrating to Kubernetes hosted services from Non-Kubernetes services
  • Solid understanding of foundational software design patterns
  • Experience supporting Machine Learning workflows and teams
  • Experience operating within HIPAA / HITRUST environment
  • Experience with 1 or more additional backend core technologies (Go / Ruby)
  • Your philosophy aligns with Agile methodologies and processes
  • Experience w/ containerization (e.g. Docker)
  • Experience w/ CI / CD tools and / or Github Actions
  • Backend experience designing REST & gRPC APIs

Our Process:

  1. 30 minute initial conversation with the Data Manager
  2. Take home assessment. We ask that you limit yourself to only spend 1-2 hours on this assignment, and return within 1 week
  3. Technical and Team interview. Here we will review your take home assessment and give you a chance to meet members of the team
  4. Cross team interview. Here you will meet with 2 team leads from other teams with which this role works closely
  5. (Optional) Reverse Interview. If candidate has interest, a chance to ask questions and interview someone that you've already talked to or a different position within the company
  6. Assessment and interview with a professional coach to ensure organizational alignment with your career goals

The base salary range for this position is $160,000-190,000/year. Actual pay may vary based on job-related skills, qualifications, certifications, experience and location. This role may also be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to equity incentives and a comprehensive benefits package.
