Forge is based in Columbus, Ohio, in a 200,000 square foot facility known affectionately by team members as, the Hearth. The Hearth, is a custom-designed cGMP facility dedicated to AAV manufacturing and hosts scalable, end-to-end manufacturing services.

About The Team

The Information Technology (IT) department plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of all technology-related systems within the company. They are responsible for managing and maintaining the company's digital infrastructure, including servers, data centers, and cloud computing platforms. They are responsible for providing technical assistance, troubleshooting issues, and resolving problems related to hardware, software, and network connectivity. The department also ensures data security and privacy by implementing robust cybersecurity measures and protocols.

About The Role

We are seeking a skilled and motivated R&D and Lab Systems Analyst to join our dynamic team in the biotech industry. As the R&D and Lab Systems Analyst, you will play a crucial role in bridging the gap between business needs and technology solutions, specifically within the R&D domain. Your primary responsibility will be to analyze, document, and optimize R&D processes, ensuring seamless integration of systems and efficient data management.

What You'll Do

  • Requirements Gathering and Analysis:
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including scientists, researchers, and IT vendors, to understand business requirements and data needs related to R&D systems.
    • Conduct thorough analysis of existing processes, workflows, and data flows to identify pain points and areas for improvement.
    • Translate business needs into actionable requirements, user stories, and tasks for delivery.
  • System Implementation and Enhancement:
    • Work closely with software vendors to configure and customize R&D systems, such as Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), Electronic Lab Notebooks (ELN), and Clinical Trial Management Systems (CTMS).
    • Ensure seamless integration of R&D systems with other enterprise applications and data platforms.
    • Collaborate with vendors and internal stakeholders to implement enhancements, upgrades, and new functionalities.
    • Document standard operating procedures (SOPs) and best practices.
  • Data Management and Reporting:
    • Define data models, data dictionaries, and data mappings for R&D systems.
    • Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and analytics to support scientific decision-making.
    • Assist in data validation, quality assurance, and data governance initiatives.

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical or scientific discipline (e.g., Computer Science, Biology, Chemistry, Bioinformatics).
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience, preferably within the biotech/pharma industry.
  • Proficiency in creating documentation, including business cases, requirement specifications, and test scripts.
  • Familiarity with R&D processes, laboratory workflows, and scientific data management.
  • Knowledge of data analytics systems and other enterprise systems.
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience in a regulated (eg, FDA, GxP, HIPAA, etc.) environment is a plus.
  • Ability to work onsite (Columbus, Ohio) on average 3-4 days/week.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

This position works in a typical office environment where the physical work demands will vary depending on the specific tasks and duties required of the job. This is largely a sedentary role; persons holding office positions are generally subject to inside environmental conditions having the lighting, temperature, and noise of an open floor-plan office environment. Regularly operate a computer and other office equipment. Regularly communicate with others in person, over the phone, and electronically. Must be able to move and/or carry objects weighing up to 10 lbs.
