Technical Program Manager
Havoc AI
About Us:
HavocAI is an innovative defense technology company making scalable maritime autonomy a reality. We are pioneering an end-to-end solution for planning, tasking and control of uncrewed surface vessels (USVs). As we continue to quickly grow, we are looking for motivated individuals that are inspired to work within an extremely energetic, creative, and innovative team that is passionate about maritime robotics and exploring the open ocean. We work in a highly dynamic environment where collaboration and idea sharing are a way of life.
About the Role:
We are seeking a Technical Program Manager to provide program-level coordination and oversight for complex autonomy efforts. This is a programmatic role with a strong technical foundation, focused on tracking progress, aligning deliverables with customer needs, and reporting on risks and milestones.
Unlike a subsystem lead, this role does not make detailed engineering decisions. Instead, the Technical Program Manager ensures visibility across teams, highlights gaps, organizes program reviews, and provides the structure needed for engineering teams to succeed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the program coordinator, ensuring engineering teams remain aligned with program milestones and customer objectives.
- Develop and maintain program schedules, technical trackers, and reporting structures.
- Collect inputs from subsystem owners (autonomy, embedded systems, networking, hardware, and operations) and integrate into cohesive program-level updates.
- Identify and flag technical or schedule gaps, ensuring they are surfaced to the appropriate subsystem leads for resolution.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and risk assessments for internal leadership and external stakeholders.
- Support customer-facing program reviews, ensuring clear communication of progress, risks, and mitigation plans.
- Organize and facilitate technical reviews and cross-team synchronization meetings.
- Travel occasionally to customer sites, demonstrations, and maritime test ranges to support program execution and reporting.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, or a related technical discipline.
- Experience in program or project management for complex technical systems (defense, robotics, aerospace, or maritime preferred).
- Strong technical foundation to understand engineering reports, schedules, and risks — without the expectation of making subsystem-level decisions.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills, with a track record of producing clear reports and program documentation.
- Ability to coordinate across multiple engineering teams and stakeholders.
- U.S. Citizen with eligibility to obtain a Secret Clearance.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with uncrewed systems (USVs, UAVs, or UGVs) or maritime operations.
- Familiarity with ROS2, Linux, and networking fundamentals.
- Background in defense acquisition, government contracting, or program reporting.
- Strong skills in structuring information, risk tracking, and milestone reporting.
Location:
- Providence, RI (Hybrid), with travel to customer sites, field tests, and demonstrations.
Compensation and Benefits:
- The target salary range for this position is $125,000 - 175,000
- 100% Employer paid Health, Dental and Vision Insurance for you and your families
- Ability to participate in the companies 401k program
- Unlimited PTO policy with an enforced 2 week minimum
- Equity Package
- Work / Home Office Stipend
- Global Entry Re-Imbursement
- 16 Week Paid Parental Leave
- Monthly Health and Wellness Stipend
