Our openings span more than one career level. The provided salary depends on many factors, such as work experience and transferable skills, business needs and impact, and market demands.
About Us:
Collaborative autonomy is how self-tasking teams of machines will solve hard human problems, and HavocAI is an unquestioned leader in collaborative autonomy. We set the standard for autonomous surface vessels for a wide range of defense and commercial maritime missions. Success requires us to grow quickly, and we’re looking for teammates who are passionate about solving hard problems, about pushing the envelope, and about preventing conflict and saving lives. Ambition is welcome to apply within.
About the Role:
We are seeking a Support Engineer to join our growing team and provide frontline technical support for mission-critical operations involving autonomous surface vessels. In this entry-level role, you will assist in diagnosing and resolving system issues, supporting remote deployments, and working directly with autonomy, hardware, and software teams to improve reliability. This is a high-impact, high-visibility position that requires strong communication, flexibility, and a proactive attitude.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide Tier 1–2 support for remote maritime autonomy deployments, including troubleshooting issues with onboard systems (ROS, networking, system processes, payloads, etc.).
Monitor live missions and logs, and respond to anomalous behavior during operations—occasionally during off-hours or weekends due to global mission schedules.
Communicate clearly with internal teams and field operators to collect diagnostic data and recommend resolutions.
Work with tools such as Linux terminal, Balena, ROS, and Docker to diagnose and resolve system-level issues.
Assist with preparing software images, provisioning hardware, and configuring telemetry and communication channels.
Contribute to improving internal tools, automation, and documentation for faster turnaround and smoother deployments.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Robotics, Computer Science, or a related engineering discipline.
Strong foundational knowledge of Linux systems and terminal-based workflows.
Familiarity with ROS (preferably ROS2) and basic C++ programming skills.
Understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, routing, VPNs).
Experience using tools such as Balena, SSH, and Docker.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Must be a U.S. Citizen and eligible to obtain a Secret Clearance.
Preferred Skills:
Hands-on experience with real-world robotic systems (e.g., drones, UGVs, or marine vehicles).
Exposure to log management, monitoring tools, and observability stacks.
Experience supporting field deployments or remote systems.
Comfort working in fast-paced, mission-oriented environments with minimal supervision.
Location:
Remote (U.S. only), with occasional travel for training, integration, and mission support.
Must be available to work flexible hours depending on global mission schedules.
Benefits:
100% Employer paid Health, Dental and Vision Insurance for you and your families
Ability to participate in the companies 401k program
Unlimited PTO policy with an enforced 2 week minimum
Equity Package
Work / Home Office Stipend
Global Entry Re-Imbursement
16 Week Paid Parental Leave
Monthly Health and Wellness Stipend
