Our Senior Mechanical Design Engineers work on some of the most important things we need to change the future of manufacturing - electromechanical components and automation systems that enable safe part holding and quality welds. Our flexible backend system integrates robots, sensors, and other systems present in manufacturing and combines them with our cutting edge algorithms. You will report to our Hardware Engineering Manager and will join a team of dedicated, supportive, and enthusiastic people to help create the future of manufacturing. What You’ll Do

  • Design and develop specialized robotic welding fixturing systems

  • Design and develop specialized automated welding and assembly robot cells

  • Design and develop electromechanical assemblies to support our robot cells, vision systems, and new product capabilities

  • Research and analyze specifications for OEM equipment

  • Design and fabricate tools/prototypes to support R&D efforts

  • Support product-level decisions about capabilities and technical approaches

  • Identify areas of our standard design to reduce cost, improve performance, and ease assembly/fabrication

  • Mentor less-experienced engineers on industrial design methodologies, engineering best practices, and design for user experience

Who You Are

  • You have a BS in mechanical or aerospace engineering, or equivalent

  • You have 8+ years of experience in mechanical design of automation equipment including technical project management roles

  • You are fluent in SolidWorks, including structural and thermal FEA

  • You are proficient in fixturing design for robotic welding

  • You are proficient in common materials and finishes used in robotic welding applications

  • You have hands-on prototyping, machine shop, precision assembly experience

  • You have extensive experience with 6-axis robotic cells & EOAT

  • You have extensive MIG welding & weld fixturing knowledge

  • You have extensive pneumatic and electrical system design experience

  • You have the ability to generate 2D drawings for manufacturing utilizing GD&T

  • You have a working-level understanding of Power & Control systems

  • You are fluent in PDM/PLM systems

  • You have extensive experience developing Zero to One products, and can advise on development approaches to achieve a new product capability
