The Opportunity

Root is searching for an Insurance Analytics Manager to lead our Insurance Analytics team (including pricing, underwriting, and third-party data). This is a highly visible role that’s empowered to make decisions with meaningful financial impact, so successful candidates will have a keen business sense, experience with strategic planning, and familiarity with P&L management. You’ll leverage your experience conducting research, designing experiments, and turning raw data into compelling stories to directly manage and mentor a growing team of analysts. This team is highly collaborative, so clear communication, organization, and the ability to influence and persuade a cross-functional group is critical.

Salary Range: $107,000 - $135,000

How You Will Make an Impact

  • Collaborate with other insurance leaders to identify opportunities and determine priorities

  • Coach and mentor analysts to improve technical skills, business acumen, and delivery (written and verbal communication)

  • Ensure the quality of deliverables and output of the team meets or exceeds expectations

  • Present findings and recommendations to senior leaders, including C-suite members

  • Proactively communicate with partners and stakeholders across the business to drive consistent awareness and alignment

  • Continue to evolve the ways we learn and make data-driven decisions at Root – test designs, statistical methodologies, automated frameworks, dashboards/reporting, etc.

  • Lead sprint planning, maintain backlogs, and ensure the team is consistently organized and workflows are well-documented

  • Responsible for hiring, onboarding, performance reviews, terminations, etc.

What You Will Need to Succeed

  • 5+ years of analytics experience required (pricing and/or insurance analytics preferred)

  • 1+ years’ experience managing people

  • Clear and confident communication

  • Ability to work cross-functionally and manage stakeholder requests and expectations

  • Excellent critical and strategic thinking, problem-solving skills, and business acumen

  • Proficiency with SQL required; Experience with R and/or Python preferred
