The Opportunity

We are looking for an Financial Operations Lead. In this role, you will lead the Accounts Payable function. This individual contributor should be a highly analytical and strategic advisor to the departments who will bring their accounts payable knowledge to our growing team.

Root is a “work where it works best” company. This means we will support you working in whatever location that works best for you across the US. We will continue to have our headquarters in Columbus and offices in other locations to give more flexibility and more choice about how we live and work.

This role requires in office work and will require this person to work in a hybrid capacity from our headquarters in Columbus, OH.

Salary Range: $93,400 to $116,700 (Bonus Eligible)

How You Will Make an Impact

  • Manage new vendor set up in Root's Accounts Payable (AP) systems

  • Manage accounts payable email inbox and all related correspondence

  • Invoice processing and payment (including monitoring/coordinating invoice approvals, reconciliations, ensuring each are tied to an obligation, payruns/payment reviews, and report creations)

  • User access reviews for accounts payable systems, liaison for account payable software vendors

  • Support through uploading contracts, coordinating signatures, working with departments/vendors to ensure invoice and contracts alignment, submitting support tickets

  • Lead support/liaison for Internal Audit for all accounts payable controls

  • Company accruals and support accounting close deliverables

  • Support day to day operations/administration of company credit card Program (administer/review/approvals)

  • Troubleshoot account payables related issues (internally and externally)

  • Partner with head of procurement for creation/execution of AP strategic projects and OKRs

  • Backup for operational specialist duties (review approve employee reimbursements, manual check processing, etc.)

  • Other duties as assigned

What You Will Need to Succeed

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting and/or Finance preferred

  • 6+ years of work experience in a big four accounting firm, financial reporting experience, and/or accounts payable experience.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

  • Ability to work effectively under strict time constraints.

  • Self-starter with strong interpersonal, teamwork, and partnering skills.

  • Proficient with Microsoft and Google products and data analytic tools.

  • Effective writing, presentation and communication skills.
