THE JOB

Signal Advisors is a rapidly growing fintech company helping financial advisors run their businesses and deliver better outcomes for their clients. We work with independent financial advisors across the country and have helped them and their teams save countless hours through our platform.

Our internship program provides students with hands-on experience inside a fast-growing venture-backed startup. Interns will work directly with experienced professionals across the organization and gain exposure to real projects that impact advisors, clients, and the future of technology for annuities, life insurance, and assets under management.

Interns are embedded within a specific team and contribute to meaningful work including operational projects, process improvements, research, and cross-functional collaboration.

This is a paid internship.

WHAT YOU’LL GET TO DO

Responsibilities will vary by team but may include:

• Supporting day-to-day team operations and projects
• Conducting research and compiling reports or analysis
• Assisting with data entry, documentation, and workflow tracking
• Helping improve processes and internal tools
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams
• Participating in team meetings and company learning sessions

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR IN TEAM MEMBERS

• Currently enrolled in a Michigan-based university OR a Michigan resident attending school elsewhere but located in-state for the duration of the internship
• Anticipated graduation date within the next 12 months (Senior or Final Year Grad Student)
• Interest in startups, financial services, or fintech
• Availability to work onsite in our Detroit office

WHAT YOU HAVE

• Experience or interest in financial services and insurance
• Strong proficiency in the Google Suite
• Experience with AI tooling
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication and collaboration skills

TEAMS OPEN FOR INTERNS

• Accounting: The Accounting team manages the company’s financial records, reporting, and internal financial processes. Interns may assist with reconciliations, expense tracking, financial reporting support, and process documentation.
• Billing/Commissions: The Billing team ensures accurate billing and invoicing for advisors using Signal’s platform. Interns may help review billing data, assist with account reconciliation, and support operational improvements in billing workflows. The Commissions team manages the tracking, calculation, and distribution of insurance commissions to advisors. Interns may assist with commission reconciliation, reporting, and working with carrier data.
• New Business/Inforce: The Inforce team manages existing insurance policies after they are issued. This includes servicing advisors and clients, policy updates, and ongoing support. Interns may help track policy changes, process service requests, and work with data. The New Business team manages the submission and processing of new insurance applications. Interns may assist with application tracking, document management, and special projects.
• Automation: The Automation team focuses on improving efficiency across the company by building tools, workflows, and integrations that reduce manual work and streamline processes. Interns may help with process mapping, researching automation tools, documenting workflows, supporting system integrations, and testing internal tools.
• Compliance: The Compliance team ensures the company meets regulatory and industry requirements. Interns may help with documentation, assist with reporting compilation, and research regulatory guidelines.
• Operations: The Operations team focuses on improving systems, workflows, and internal processes across the organization. Interns may support process documentation, operational analysis, and internal project coordination.
• Sales: The Sales team works with financial advisors to onboard them onto the Signal platform and grow advisor relationships. Interns may assist with CRM management, sales materials, and pipeline tracking.
• Creative : The Creative team develops marketing materials, content, and brand assets used across the company. Interns may assist with content writing, graphic design, and social media content.
• People / IT: The People and IT team supports recruiting, employee experience, and internal technology systems. Interns may assist with recruiting coordination, HR projects, onboarding documentation, and internal tools.
