About the Role

At SonderMind, building a delightful, connected employee experience is at the heart of how we operate — and you will play a key role in making that happen. As our next People Experience Partner, you’ll bring a strong operational foundation, an informed HR perspective, and a passion for creating a surprisingly delightful experience for every SonderMinder. You’re at an exciting point in your career, ready to deepen your impact, serve as a trusted partner to employees and managers, and take ownership of both the day-to-day and the moments that define culture.

You know that exceptional employee experiences aren’t left to chance - they’re designed with care, refined through feedback, and celebrated with intention. You pair operational expertise with a genuine enthusiasm for building and scaling HR programs. You’re just as comfortable updating systems and tracking data as you are advising managers, leading recognition programs, and launching new ways to celebrate life’s milestones. Every interaction is a chance for you to strengthen culture, reinforce values, and create meaningful moments that make SonderMind a more connected, inspiring, and memorable place to work.

What you’ll do

  • Manage HRIS updates, employee records, and operational workflows to ensure accuracy and a smooth employee experience; leverage AI-based tools to do your work more effectively.
  • Act as the primary HR partner for our non-exempt support employee population, supporting them through onboarding, day-to-day needs, and career milestones.
  • Design, coordinate, and deliver engagement programs, including onboarding experiences, recognition initiatives, wellness campaigns, and employee events in partnership with our HR Operations team.
  • Gather employee data, employee feedback and seek to identify trends to help inform and evolve engagement, development, and retention strategies.
  • Advise managers on basic HR practices and employee matters, escalating complex or sensitive issues appropriately.
  • Collaborate with the People team to continuously improve processes, programs, and cultural initiatives.

What does success look like?

At the end of your first 90 days, you’ve:

  • Handled multiple transactions and HR operational processes independently (onboarding, offboarding, performance management conversation, etc.)
  • You’ve established a strong foundation with managers in the business, and positioned yourself as their thought-partner and confidant for basic coaching, guidance, etc.
  • You’ve gathered initial employee sentiment (formally or informally), surfaced insights to the People team, and perhaps have accomplished one quick win as it pertains to engagement
  • You’ve helped the People team define and start to measure employee engagement

After 90 days, ongoing, success looks like:

  • You handle HR transactions and processes independently, with a high degree of accuracy and employee-centric service.
  • You have a working model for how to develop, analyze, and iterate on basic employee engagement programs
  • Managers routinely meet with you or seek your counsel when it comes to employee matters
  • You play a visible role in reinforcing SonderMind’s culture - recognizing milestones, celebrating wins, connecting employees to purpose, and strengthening a sense of belonging.
  • You show a continuous improvement mindset, and propose and drive process improvements that are data-driven and make the employee experience more efficient, delightful, or impactful without needing to be asked.

Who You Are

  • 3–4 years of professional HR experience, ideally spanning both HR operations and employee engagement programming.
  • Confidence navigating spreadsheets, HRIS platforms, and employee data.
  • Solid knowledge of HR fundamentals, including policies, processes, and employee lifecycle best practices.
  • Proven experience building trust and strong partnerships.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on clarity, empathy, and action.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities at once - sometimes with ambiguous direction
  • A proactive, resourceful mindset
  • Experience supporting non-exempt or hourly employee populations (preferred).
  • Familiarity with engagement surveys, recognition platforms, or wellness programming (a plus).
