Role Overview

The Tandem team is looking for a Business Development Representative to support our growing marketplace. As a Business Development Representative, you will play a crucial role in expanding our customer base by generating leads and converting them into valued clients.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct outbound cold calls to prospective childcare centers, identifying their staffing needs and introducing them to our company's services.
  • Engage in in-person field visits regularly to meet with childcare center directors to generate awareness around Tandem’s services.
  • Build and maintain a pipeline of potential leads, tracking all interactions and updating the CRM system.
  • Effectively present and communicate the features, benefits, and value proposition of our offerings to potential childcare center clients.
  • Ensure a smooth transition along the customer journey and provide any necessary background information to relevant internal teams.
  • Proactively follow up on leads to nurture relationships and move them through the sales cycle.
  • Stay up to date with childcare industry trends, market conditions, competitor offerings and other domain expertise to effectively position our services.
  • Achieve or exceed monthly and quarterly targets for lead generation, conversion rates, and revenue generation.
  • Be open to working in a fast-paced, emerging, unstructured environment.

Qualifications

  • 1+ years of experience in a business development or sales role, preferably involving cold calling and lead generation.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to articulate the value proposition clearly and persuasively.
  • Self-motivated with a drive to achieve targets and exceed expectations.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, ensuring accurate and up-to-date record keeping.
  • Early childcare experience a plus!
  • Proven ability to build rapport over the telephone and in-person with potential clients and effectively handle objections.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems and proficiency in using sales tools to track leads and manage pipeline.
  • Resilience and a positive mindset to handle a high quantity of leads and maintain motivation in a fast-paced, target-driven environment.
  • Experience with any of the following is a plus: Working at a startup; Scaling a product to support new markets; Building a two-sided marketplace or B2B model; Understanding the care industry, specifically childcare centers.
  • Being a nice human! This is non-negotiable.
