Description

VAST Data is looking for a Senior RMA Lab Technician to lead and manage day to day RMA lab operations including debug, testing and repair of defective customer returns at our test lab in Mountain View, CA. Your expertise in testing and diagnosing issues will ensure the quality and reliability of our products.

Responsibilities

  • Manage customer returns through end to end RMA repair process (material movement, Jira ticket updates, HW testing and repair, etc.) ensuring every unit follows a strict process to ensure high quality with no process escapes
  • Perform failure replication/debug on x86 based servers
  • Document test results, including any issues encountered and the actions taken to resolve them
  • Repair and replace faulty components, ensuring the functionality and reliability of the tested systems
  • Write and update work instructions and other documents
  • Work with cross functional teams of engineers and suppliers to drive Root Cause Analysis Reports
  • Summarize and communicate field quality issues to the leadership team
  • Communicate concisely verbally and in writing to leadership. Will be required to present monthly and quarterly RMA lab metrics

Basic Qualifications/Required Experience

  • 5+ years of hands-on proven experience in testing and troubleshooting x86 based servers
  • Working knowledge and debug understanding with OEM server and compute products. (Supermicro, Dell, HPE)
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing test processes and work instruction generation
  • Understand manufacturing and test equipment concepts, technologies and techniques
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Detail oriented, reliable, self-motivated, and able to work under pressure with clear communication.
  • Flexibility working in a startup that’s continually punching above its weight
  • A proven ability to work collaboratively across time zones and countries, filter and prioritize high priority tasks, and escalate to management where appropriate
  • Strong problem-solving skills, analytic capabilities, data analysis and attention to details.
  • Familiar with JIRA, Confluence, Google Docs, Slack
